Sunday 2nd October 2016

1.30pm start. Meet at Ford Farm, Sticklepath, North Dartmoor SX643935. Approx. 4 miles in a lovely part of the world. Walking onto the edge of Cawsand (Cosden) then skirting the edge of the moor and descending via bridleways and paths to South Zeal before returning. Turn off the A30 at Whiddon Down and follow the ‘old’ Okehampton road for approx. 3 miles as far as crossroads at top of hill descending into Sticklepath, then turn left at the crossroads, up a narrow lane leading to Ford Farm. Parking is limited to about 3 spaces (opposite a barn and near 2 garages, so car-share could be beneficial). There may be some damp sections, but generally good. 1.00pm start. Bridgwater and Taunton Canal. Meet at St Peter’s Church, North Newton ST302312. On-road parking. A fairly flat walk approx. 6 miles in countryside, through hamlets, and along the canal, where hopefully we can take refreshment at the tea-shop at Maunsel Lock (failing that, the Harvest Moon at the end). North Newton is a few miles south of Bridgwater (we suggest joining the A38 at Jct 25 of the M5 at Taunton, and heading north until North Newton is signed). 1.30pm start. Whimple and environs. Meet at Webbers Close, Whimple SY043972. Approx. 5 miles. The walk includes some field paths, but is mainly on country lanes, so mud should be limited! If clear, there will be good views on one part of the walk, and we will pass a number of features of historical interest. Suggested car-share Honiton Road P&R 1.00pm

1.30pm start. Colyton area. Meet at Colyton Public Car-Park SY247940. Approx. 5 miles across farmland and quiet country lanes. It could be muddy in places after rain. Refreshments are probably available in Colyton at the end of the walk. Suggested car-share Newton Poppleford Car park off School Lane SX086897. it is approx. 12 miles / 25-30 minutes to Colyton. We will be at Newton Poppleford from 12.30pm to 12.45pm. When you phone to   confirm that you are coming on the walk, please let us know if you intend to car-share from there.

1.30pm start. Fire & Smoke, and Buckley, behind the Sid Valley. Meet at the Blue Ball, Sidford SY138899 (parking approved). Approx. 5.5 miles in the countryside, with views over the Sid valley and the sea. Refreshments can be enjoyed by the log fire in the Blue Ball, either before, after, or before and after, the walk. 1.30pm start. Colaton Raleigh and Hawkerland. Meet in Church Road, Colaton Raleigh by the church, where there is on-road parking SY082871. Approx. 5 miles passing through Stowford and along the eastern edge of the common to Hawkerland, and returning on a different route. The walk is on lanes and tracks. Refreshments will be available towards the end of the walk at the Otter Inn. Suggested car-share Sidmouth Road P&R 1.00pm.

1.30pm start at the lay-by on the A3052 just west of the Bowd Inn, Sidmouth SY106898 for a walk approx. 5.5 miles to Mutter’s Moor, and returning through Otterton Hill Plantation, with fine views (weather permitting) across Newton Poppleford and Woodbury Common (and, I suspect, the sea – PRL). Refreshments can be taken at East Hill Pride Farm Shop at the end of the walk. Suggested car-share Sidmouth Road R&R 1.00pm.

climb out of town. Could be muddy. Meet at 1.00pm on

Meeting at 7.00pm at the Tally Ho! Pub, School Lane, Countess Wear, Exeter 941904 (where there is plenty of quiet on-road parking, and a chance for refreshments at the end. The walk is about 3.5 miles and will go through the Ludwell Valley and along the ridge, with good (and surprising) views of the City and estuary.

Kimmeridge in the Purbeck Hills. 7.0 miles of easy ridge and cliff walking. Spectacular sea views throughout.Refreshments available towards the end. Stoke Canon and the Exe Valley. 4.0 miles along lanes and paths in the Exe Valley. Meet 7.00pm off the A396 Exeter to Tiverton road. Turn in opposite the pub and park by the railway line on the village side next to the level crossing SS936980.

Okehampton/Sticklepath. 8.5 miles. Green lanes and farm paths to Sticklepath, refreshments available, returning along Taw and East Oakment rivers through some of the most beautiful woodland in Devon. Meet 1.00pm outside The Museum of Dartmoor Life' West Street, Okehampton SX587952. Suggested car-share Sowton P&R leaving noon.

 Starting outside Ford Farm, Sticklepath, North Dartmoor, SX643935. Onto the edge of Cawsand AKA Cosden then skirting the edge of the moor and descending via bridle and pathways to South Zeal before returning to the cars. Drivers will need to turn off the A30 at Whiddon Down and follow the "old" Okehampton road for approx 3 miles as far as the crossroads at the top of the hill descending into Sticklepath, turning left at the crossroads up the narrow lane leading to Ford Farm. Parking is limited to about 3 spaces here opposite a barn and near 2 garages, so car-share could be beneficial. There maybe one or two damp section of path but generally dry.   About 4 miles.

 Sunday 4th September 2016 2pm

Meet at 2.00pm at the junction of Maunders Hill and Church Hill in Otterton (SY082852) (just past the thatched cottage on Maunders Hill). This is on the south-east corner of the church yard, and there is plenty of on-road parking in the vacinity. A 6 mile walk along a tree-covered path for c.2 miles and back beside River Otter to Otterton Mill (cream tea there, or possibly at the end). Then continue north alongside the river to a beautiful arched wooden bridge and back through woods and fields to Otterton. After climbing some gentle hill slopes on the first and last sections of walk there are some great views.
