Autumn 2015-Winter 2016 Programme

October 4th
A 6 mile walk. Start at 1.30pm. Meet at the junction of Roman Road and Shute Road in Kilmington (not Wilmington). Roadside parking in Roman Road. A walk along the River Yarty to Beckford Bridge and returning through farmland and quiet lanes. Could be muddy after rain. Car Share at Daisymount. Be ready to leave by 12.45 pm.

October 18th
Meet at the car park by the river in Tipton St John. Grid ref SY091197 for a 1.30 start. A 5 mile circular walk from Tipton St. John through Venn Ottery. The terrain is quite easy with just a couple of brief uphill stretches but some of it can be muddy after wet weather. It’s a nice walk through the river valley and through green lanes with some lovely views.
Car Share not really necessary but make your separate arrangements if you want to.

November 1st
5 Mile walk from Teignmouth Station to Dawlish Warren Station, on the newly repaired and opened sea-wall. This is a one-way walk, starting at Teignmouth Station. The walk will commence at 1.30pm. There is a train from Dawlish Warren Station at 1.13pm, so a chance to do the famous rail journey as well. The train comes from Exmouth via Exeter leaving Exmouth at 12.28pm. Refreshments will be available on the walk. If you want to Car Share to Dawlish Warren station to catch the train then its approx 30 mins drive from Sowton Park and Ride to Dawlish Warren. You should allow approx an hour to find parking, buy ticket if not bought beforehand or pay on train. 

November 15th
Meet at the Exeter Arena Car Park at Summer Lane Exeter (OS  SX 94772 94029) for a walk of around 3.5 miles.   

We will meet close to the Bowling Club at the far end of the Exeter Arena car park at 1.30 pm for a walk through Eastern Fields and then up towards the Pin Brook source in the hills. This is a circular walk through mixed woods and open views - amazing that it's within the city boundaries.

We can meet for lunch at 12.30 (or coffee at 1 pm) at the Bowling Club, but we need to know by Monday 9th if you want lunch because they will be very busy on the 15th.

November 29th
Walking at 1PM from the public car park in Thorverton village Bullen St/Dark Lane junction. GR SS 92381 02076.  Parking is also available on roads nearby if the car park is full. A 5 mile walk mainly on lanes but some footpaths as well. There will be some hilly sections en route but good views if the weather is fine. Car Share at Sowton Park and Ride. Time to Thorverton approx. 25 mins so meet for a 12.15pm departure.

December 13th
Mincepie walk.  Meet at London Inn, Ottery St Mary.   Easy walk followed by tea and pies chez leader.


December 27th
Meet at Otterton village green at 1p.m. Make your own travel arrangements as it's local.  Walking along the river and coastal path. Approximately 5 miles but the exact length and route is dependent on the weather on the day! Then after the walk we can retire to the Otterton Mill for refreshment.  

January 10th
Treasure Hunt at Taunton. Car Share from Middlemoor park & ride. Meet at 11.30 am. Use easy access to Taunton town centre via M5 Junction 25 and then dual carriageway, Tone Way. Park at Wood Street car park, free on Sundays at the time of writing, but check on arrival. Postcode TA1 1UP for satnav users. If no satnav, look for Lidl's supermarket and take the turning almost opposite into Wood Street. Having parked, meet at the Lidl end of the car park to start at 1.00 pm Sharp.  Remember wet weather essentials.  BRING A TORCH

January 24th
Meet for a 1.30pm start at  SY 065927, which is about 500m east of Tipton Cross and on the road leading to the south end of Higher Broad Oak Road, where there is a wide verge suitable for several cars to park.The walk is a fairly gentle one of about 4.5 miles suitable for a short afternoon.The route will cross Venn Ottery Common to Venn Ottery, then on to Metcombe and Fluxton. Since the walk is local car sharing arrangements are not needed. 

February 7th

Meet for a 1.30 pm start at Colyton Public Car Park for a 5 mile walk across farmland and quiet country lanes. It could be muddy after rain.

Car Share. Suggest meeting at Newton Poppleford car park off School Lane. Its approx 12 miles and 25 - 30 minutes to Colyton from here. Allow 15 mins for delays and to get booted etc for the walk. We will be at Newton Poppleford from 12.30 pm to leave by 12.45pm. When you phone to confirm you are walking let us know if you intend to car share from there. 

February 21st
Meet by 1.30pm at Branscombe Village Hall car park (SY197888) for a four mile walk, time 2hrs. Car share from Daisy Mount. Meet by 12.45pm. The Fountain Head pub will be open for coffee after the walk.

March 6th
Killerton.  Meet at the bottom end of the walled car park. OS ref SS 978 002 at 1.30 p.m. for a 4.5 mile walk.  This will take us around the perimeter of the estate through fields, woods, and along tracks and will take in the two chapels.  It could be muddy!  Tea at the restaurant afterwards. 

March 20th
Lyme Regis. Meet by the Life Boat Station on the Cobb for 1.30pm start. 4.5 miles. An early climb to the Under-cliff and Ware, then dropping to Uplyme and the Liberty Trail. Possibility of seeing the town mill in operation, and the new sea-wall to the east of the town. Refreshments a distinct probability. Car Share. Either Daisymount, Time to Lyme Regis approx 40 minutes. So, a 12.25pm departure. Or from 97 Sidford Road, Sidmouth, Leaving by 12.45 pm at the very latest.
